Obituary

Epping, NH: Alvin B. McArthur, 89, a resident of Epping, NH, died peacefully Saturday, October 12, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late John and Pearl (Stewert) McArthur. He attended area schools and proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Manchester. He later worked as a machinist and then as a supervisor for Lucent Technology for nearly 32 year before his retirement.

Alvin enjoyed working with his hands, building things, "tinkering", and especially gardening. A family man, Alvin was known for his positive outlook on life and had a terrific sense of humor. He was often telling jokes for he loved to laugh.

Alvin will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife of seventy years, Shirley L. (Chapman) McArthur, a son, Alvin McArthur, Jr., and his wife, Janet of Palatka, FL, five daughters, Carolyn Taylor and her late husband, Allen of Epping NH, Wendy Mills and significant other, Tim Brewlot of Sanbornton, NH, Judy Yokley and significant other, Vic Morin of Wakefield, NH, April McArthur of Brentwood, NH, and a sister Doris Hamilton of Rhode Island. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Gene, Amanda and her husband Steven, Jennifer and her husband Ken, Kerri and her husband James, Megan, Michelle and her husband Mark, Michael and his wife Tammy, Melissa and her husband Maurice, and James, and nine great-grandchildren, Millicent, Sierra, Knowlen, Lilly, Will, Lexie, Kianna, Taylor and Daniella. He was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth McArthur, Ellis McArthur and James McArthur, and a grandson Robbie Mills.

At the family's request, services for Mr. McArthur will be private. In memory of Alvin, the family kindly requests donations be made in his name to the Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Rd, Exeter, NH 03833.
