Atkinson, NH: Alma Marie (Ovitt) Harty, 77, a resident of Atkinson for the last fifty years, died peacefully, July 16, 2021, at her home with her husband by her side.

Born in Newport, Vermont, daughter of the late Everette and Alma (Vincent) Ovitt, she lived and attended school in Island Pond, VT until relocating with her family to Methuen, Massachusetts, and graduated from Tenney High School, with the Class of 1962.

After working first in the local shoe industry, she spent the rest of her career working in the healthcare field. She was employed for many years as an ophthalmic technician at Tallman Eye Associates of Lawrence and later in the Medical Billing Department of New England Neurological.

In her later years, Alma enjoyed spending time at the Atkinson Senior Center. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, with a good sense of humor and a feisty personality, who enjoyed walking and outdoor concerts with her husband. She was an avid and loyal Red Sox fan and thoroughly enjoyed attending NASCAR and stock car races.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her loving and devoted husband of fifty-nine years, Daniel J. Harty, a daughter, Suzanne M. Harty of East Hartford, CT, a son, Daniel J. Harty, II and his wife Harriet of Townsend, MA, two brothers; Edward Ovitt of Epping and Albert Ovitt of Raymond, a sister, Roberta Froitas of Plaistow, two grandchildren, Jacob Paulhus of East Hartford, and Amanda Libby and her husband Levi of Acton, ME, six great-grandchildren; Tayler, Rosie-Elizabeth, Sophia, Michaela, Aliyana and Laila, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Atkinson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd. Waltham, MA.
