Obituary

Fremont, NH: Allister F. Fraser, 97, a resident of Fremont for the past three years, died Friday, June 26, 2020 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Center.

Born, raised and educated in Ipswich, Massachusetts, son of the late Walter and Helene (Kellick) Fraser, he attended Ipswich High School, where he was a member of the Varsity Football Team. A veteran of World War Two, he served in the U.S. Navy as a coxswain from July 9, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on January 18, 1946 and was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal.

Following the end of his military service, Mr. Fraser finished his education at the former Haverhill Trade School and was employed as a machinist for thirty-two years at Western Electric Co. and AT & T Technologies until his retirement in 1986.

A resident of Haverhill from, 1948 until 1984, he was a longtime member of the Riverside Memorial Church of Haverhill. He and his wife, Doris later resided in Hampstead, NH for thirty years before moving to Derry in 2013 and later Fremont in 2017.

Mr. Fraser was a member of The Telephone Pioneers of America, The CWA Retirees Club, Merrimack Lodge AF & AM, and Post # 112254 of the VFW, Hampstead, NH. He enjoyed deep sea fishing out of Ipswich, bowling, snowmobiling and traveling. A man who always kept himself busy, he also enjoyed working on maintenance projects at his home and building a camp on Shellcamp Pond in Gilmanton, NH.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of seventy-two years, Doris L. (Gifford) Fraser, two sons and daughters-in-law, David G. and Jean Fraser of Hampstead, and Kevin A. and Gloria Fraser of Gilmanton, a sister-in-law Joann Leppard of Concord, NH,  a cousin, Helene Souter of Ipswich, and grandchildren, Amanda Fraser and Kevin Fraser.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday morning, July 1, 2020 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 12 o'clock p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Cowles Cemetery Ipswich. The family requests that donations in his name be made to Harborside Hospice, 23 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH.
