Obituary

Allan E. Stone, "Stoney", 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Gloria H. (Metropolis) Stone, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. He leaves behind his daughters Deborah A. Jackson and her husband James R. Jackson Jr. of Plaistow NH, Carolyn G. Howe and her husband Richard W. Howe of Palm Coast, Florida, grandchildren Douglas J. Jackson, Gregory A. Jackson, Whitney K. Lippincott and Samantha L. Howe and great grandchildren Kensington Lippincott, Hudson Lippincott, Beckett Lippincott and Eva Jackson.

He was born in Haverhill, MA on August 24, 1925, and was the son of the late George F. and Marion (Russell) Stone. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Stone and cousin Constance Eaton, who was more like a sister.

Stoney was raised and educated in Haverhill. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1944. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during WWII. He was employed as a Shipwright Planner at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Stoney had a passion for flight and held a private pilot's license, flying his Super Cub on floats in the summer and skis in the winter in the NH and ME lakes region, primarily on Ossipee Lake where he so generously gave airplane rides to anyone who desired. Stoney was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and camping and was known for his kindness to animals especially his beloved dogs. He was a principled man of great integrity, a self-described "jack of all trades, master of none", always willing to lend a hand. His wit and dry sense of humor would always put a smile on your face, he was immensely proud of both of his daughters. Stoney was the very best husband, father, son, brother, and man anyone could ask for, he will be dearly missed by all. He was the current holder of Boston Post Cane, being the oldest resident of Plaistow.
