Obituary

Haverhill, MA: Alice (Friedrich) Abate, 83, of Atkinson, NH, passed away at Wingate at Haverhill on January 14, 2019 after a long and brave struggle with Alzheimer 's disease.

Alice was born in Poland, the daughter of the late Samual and Alwvine Friedrich, and raised in Germany, living there until she met future husband George, a soldier stationed in Germany at the end of World War II. After marrying in a small chapel in Mannheim, the two started their life together in Haverhill, MA. Alice was a homemaker for many years before working for Western Electric for over a decade.

Alice was an avid gardener, known for her amazing landscaping and flower garden creations, and she had a fondness for both birds and butterflies. Alice loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed snow birding at her and her husband's second home in Lady Lake, Florida.

Alice is predeceased by her husband of sixty-two years, George J. Abate, son Shawn G. Abate, and daughter Robintina (Abate) Wilson. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Alisa Chagnon of Bradford, MA, six grandchildren Brandon Chagnon of Bradford, MA, Connor Chagnon of Bradford, MA, Deanna Abate of San Diego, CA, Shawn Abate of Methuen, MA, Hollis Abate of Maine, Collin Wilson, and several great grandchildren.
