Obituary

Alfred G. Goudreault, 86, died on Friday, May 10, 2024, at High Pointe House hospice in Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a long, courageous battle against pulmonary fibrosis and COPD, demonstrating remarkable strength and resilience throughout his illness." He was born in Haverhill, MA, on February 6, 1938, and was the son of the late Ernest J. and Leona B. (Poirier) Goudreault.

Alfred led a fulfilling life, deeply dedicated to his family and country. He graduated from Haverhill Trade School in 1956.

Alfred proudly served his country from 1958 to 1963 as a shipfitter in the Navy. He then was a dedicated quality control engineer at lucent technologies and retired in 1999.

Alfred G. Goudreault was a beloved outdoorsman whose adventurous spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him. With a zest for life, he embraced every moment, whether it was snowmobiling, 4-wheeling on the trails of Maine, casting lines into serene waters, hunting, or hiking scenic trails.  Amongst his favorite memories were the many hunting trips through the years spent with his brothers, sons and grandson, and his treasured time spent in the Alaskan wilderness salmon fishing with his brother and dear friends.  He had a special place in his heart for his lake house in Maine which was his sanctuary, a place where he found peace and joy surrounded by cherished family and friends. He relished competitive games of 45's, delighting in the thrill of winning even the smallest pot.  But above all, his family held the deepest place in his heart, and his happiest moments were those spent with his granddaughter and grandson enjoying the many pleasures that his lake house offered.  Alfred was a man of remarkable knowledge, with a keen understanding of a wide range of topics.  His love for sharing what he knew was evident in every conversation. His kind and loving nature shone through in his ability to understand life's complexities while appreciating its simplicities.  Al was not one who sat by and waited for life to happen, he grabbed every moment creating memories that will be cherished forever.  Alfred G. Goudreault's legacy lives on through his family, though he may have embarked on his final journey, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Alfred survived by his two sons, Alfred J. Goudreault and his partner Pamela Douglas of Chester, NH, and Donald W. Goudreault and his wife Lisa Goudreault of Chester, NH, his grandchildren, Stephen, Kaylie, Nicole, Sarah, and Justin, his siblings Wilfred Goudreault of Essex, MA, and Edward Goudreault of Haverhill, MA. He was sadly predeceased by his siblings Leonard Goudreault, Ernest Goudreault, Robert Goudreault, Raymond Goudreault, and Lillian T. German-Chernesky.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave, Haverhill on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 10am. Interment will be held privately. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 4:30-8:30pm at the Atkinson Country Club in the Tuscan room.
