Haverhill, MA:  Alfred O. Desmarais, 84, of Haverhill, died on May 16, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA.

A lifelong resident of Haverhill, he was the son of Joseph and Rosealma (Belanger) Desmarais.  He attended school in Haverhill and served in the United States Army as a Private during the Vietnam Era.

Mr. Desmarais worked for Lionel Lavallee Beef Company as a meat cutter and packer, and as a truck driver until his retirement.  He was a member of St. James Parish, Haverhill and belonged to several bowling and golf leagues, often participating in local tournaments.  He also enjoyed playing "45" cards and snowmobiling.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Rita (Langlois) Desmarais in 2017 and is survived by two sons, Allen J. Desmarais of Haverhill and Thomas Desmarais of Newton, NH; a daughter, Tammie Hamlett of Kingston, NH; a brother, Armand Desmarais of Florida; two sisters, Joan Kelley of Maynard, MA and Carolyn Radzwell of Haverhill; ex daughter-in-law, Michelle Desmarais; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service to be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 10 AM at St. James Cemetery, Primrose St., Haverhill, MA.
