Obituary

Plaistow, NH; Alfred "Fred" Araskiewicz, 95, died Saturday, August 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Balcewicz) Araszkiewicz, he was raised and educated in Dracut, MA, a graduate of Dracut High School class of 1944. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during World War II as a paratrooper. He served with the 508 th parachute infantry regiment in Frankfurt, Germany, assisting his first sergeant with personal files.

Fred was a talented finish carpenter and worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over sixty years as member of the Carpenter's Union Local #111. He also went on to serve his hometown as a Dracut Fire Fighter and Police Officer for many years.

Fred's years of service to his country sparked his fascination with flying. He obtained a small engine pilot's license, flew Cessna planes with family and friends for many years. An avid red sox fan, he also enjoyed building furniture, and often helped family and friends with projects around their homes. During the winter months, he enjoyed wintering with his son, Jack to Florida, where they enjoyed numerous boating trips with Fred at the helm.

Fred is lovingly remembered by his sons, Jack Serratore of Plaistow and Stephen Araskiewicz and his wife, Susan of Dracut; two daughters, Judy O'Connell of Haverhill and Nancy Dorman of Dracut; daughter-in-law, Robin Serratore of Plaistow; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips and her husband, Kevin, Shane Brandy and his wife, Kristina, Kimberly Hall and her husband, Stephen Kolberg, Michael Hall, Michaela Araskiewicz, Heather Araskiewicz and LeeAnn Ryder and her husband, Joshua; fourteen great-grandchildren, Avery, George, Rose, Natalie, Isa, Kieran,  Aria, Owen, Savanah, Alessandra, Madeline, Caleb, Samantha and Alexandra; sister, Lambertha Alibrandi and her husband, Joseph of Malibu, CA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in 2015 by his loving wife, Helen (Reardon) Araskiewicz; his son, Michael Araskiewicz; son-in-law, David O'Connell; grandson, Michael Serratore; great-grandson, Shane Brandy Jr.; and his brother, Stanley and his two sisters, Genieve Mikstas and Josephine Elston.

Relatives and friends are invited to Fred's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 5-7pm at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home,116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 10am at Holy Angels Church of St. Luke The Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Rd., Plaistow, NH Burial will be in the Family lot at Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow.
