Merrimac: Alan J. Conte, 79, a resident of Merrimac for the past twenty-seven years, died Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, son of the late Hugo and Corinne (Robidoux) Conte, he was a member of the Haverhill Trade School Class of 1961. Mr. Conte was employed for thirty-eight years at Western Electric Co, AT&T Technologies and Lucent Technologies, retiring as Supervisor of Maintenance. He went on to work at West Newbury Housing Department, Merrimac Light Co. and Turning Point in Newburyport.

A resident of Groveland for five years before moving to Merrimac in 1995, Mr. Conte was a fan of college sports, The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks and also enjoyed camping, traveling, playing tennis and snowmobiling.  He also enjoyed crafting things with his hands, including ceramics and building infant cradles.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-seven years, Lori J. (Fairbanks) Conte, stepson, Matthew D. Clohecy and his wife, Sabrina and their sons, Ryan M. and Aidan S. Clohecy, all of Newton, NH, stepson, Jeremiah P. Clohecy of Merrimac and his children, Dylan T., Autumn E., Graham P. and Tristan J. Clohecy, and stepson, Ian K. Clohecy of Salisbury, a brother, John W. Conte and his wife, Roberta of Haverhill, a son, Alan Conte, Jr., a daughter, Michelle Lee, and several other extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Alan's Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Hampshire Down Syndrome Association, 276 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH.
