Harry McDuffee Chase

U.S. Flag Danville, NH: Harry M. Chase, 85, of Danville, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Derry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.

Born in Elmhurst, Long Island, NY, son of the late George and Florence (Eastman) Chase, he moved to Rochester, NH. as a child and graduated from Spaulding High School with the Class of 1943, where he was a four year star center for the Varsity Basketball Team.

A veteran of W.W.II, Mr. Chase served first in the U.S.Army and Army Air Corps and was a recipient of the Bronze Star, The Good Conduct Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, The American Theatre Campaign Ribbon and The W.W.II Victory Medal. Following his discharge from the service, Mr. Chase attended Massachusetts Radio School and Franklin Technical Institute.

Mr. Chase was first employed as a lineman for New England Telephone and later as an electrician for Sorensen Electric Co. of Stoneham, MA. He was employed for most of his working life at the Federal Street Aerospace Plant of General Electric Co. of Lynn first as an electronic technician and for twenty-five years as a Gyro Analyst until his retirement.

A member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he was also a longtime member of the American Legion of Danville. He enjoyed listening to Classical and Country music and working out in his yard. An avid sports fan he was also an accomplished bowler and Table Tennis champion in his younger years. His greatest enjoyment was the time that he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-years, Jacqueline R. (Couture) Chase, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and M. Celeste Chase of Scituate, MA, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda M. Chase Borrelli and Vincenzo Borrelli of Danville, a sister Betty Larson of California, three grandchildren, Robb Chase, Caitlin Chase and Davide Borrelli, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors in Meetinghouse Cemetery in Danville.

Richard J. Caputo

U.S. Flag Kingston, NH: Richard J. Caputo, 87, a resident of Kingston for the past twenty-two years, and formerly of Plaistow, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in Exeter, NH.

Born in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Anthony and Mary (Stein) Caputo, he attended Haverhill Public Schools.

A U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II, Mr. Caputo served as a Corporal with Co I, 79th Division, 313th Infantry. He saw action in the European Theatre and took part in the Battle of the Bulge, and also served as a prisoner of war for six months in Stalag 4-A and 4-B. A Disabled American Veteran, he was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, The W.W.II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with Two Bronze Stars.

A well-known local automobile dealer, Mr. Caputo established White Street Auto Sales in 1947. The business later continued as Caputo and Sons Auto Sales in several locations in Haverhill until his retirement in 1981.

A former member of Saint James Parish of Haverhill, he was also
a member of the Hannah Dustin Chapter of the D.A.V., The Lorraine Post of the VFW, and the Haverhill Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed attending flea markets, collecting clocks, smoking his cigars and arm wrestling. He also was an avid and accomplished Candle Pin bowler and horseshoe player.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Theresa D. (Sansoucie) Caputo, daughter and son-in-law, Marie T. and Dean Emery of Haverhill and sons and daughters-in-law, Richard D. Caputo of Englewood, Florida, Michael A. and Deborah Caputo of Fremont, NH, and Anthony P. and Leslie Caputo, of Raymond, NH, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint James Cemetery, Primrose St., Haverhill. Mr. Albert J. Simes

U.S. Flag Chester, NH: Albert J. Simes passed away very peacefully on Saturday, July 24th, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

Albert was born in Haverhill, MA and was the son of the late Albert and Rita (Jordan) Simes.

Al served in the United States Navy and was proud to be a Seabee.
He later became member of Local 138 for 45 years where he worked as a plumber/pipefitter.

For many years, Al was very active in the Groveland chapter of the Knights of Columbus and was a third degree knight as well as an honorary lifetime member.
For many years Al played in various softball leagues in Haverhill. He was active in the bowling league at St. Joseph's. Golfing was another one of his favorite sports and he was a member of the Garrison Golf League for many years. Al was also an avid New England sports fan.

Al was a very loving and giving person and he enjoyed life to the fullest. Albert's favorite past times included dancing, playing cards, swimming, fishing and watching old movies. He participated in many 45’s tournaments and was a member of the Walnut Square Association. He loved animals, especially his pet, Foofi. Al loved family events and enjoyed all celebrations immensely. He loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Elizabeth (Snowdon) Simes, his two children, Joseph and Lisa, three sisters and two brothers, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Al will be greatly missed.

Sheryl R. (Boland) Wahlen

Plaistow, NH: Sheryl R (Boland) Wahlen, 64, of Plaistow, died peacefully Thursday morning, July 22, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.

A resident of Plaistow since 1984, Mrs. Wahlen was born in Lowell, MA, daughter of Ruth (Andersen) Hancock and the late Paul Hancock. She graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1964 and later graduated from Castle Junior College in Windham, NH.

Mrs. Wahlen was employed for many years as an aid in the Learning Center of the Timberlane School District for children with disabilities and had previously been employed as a secretary at Honeywell.

An accomplished cook and a devoted “Grammy”, Mrs. Wahlen supported her children’s sports endeavors as a soccer coach in their younger years. Most important to her was her large family of husband, children, grandchildren, mother, brother and sister.

She is survived by her husband, W. Christopher Wahlen, three sons, Shaun D. Shanahan and his girlfriend, Dianne Clarke of Kingston, NH, Scott D. Wahlen and his fiancé Deborah Bernstein of Boston, MA, and Jeffrey A. Shanahan and his wife Kelly of Plaistow, two daughters, Melissa A. (Shanahan) Melesky and her husband Stephen of Newton, NH, and Faith B. Wahlen and her partner Meredith Dugan of Derry, NH, a daughter-in-law, Debra Machado and her husband Wayne of Plaistow, NH, her mother, Ruth (Andersen) Hancock of Nashua, NH., a brother Michael Hancock of Lowell, MA, a sister Paula Hancock, of Ashland, ten grandchildren, Jared, Lucas, and Dylan Machado, Kaile and Codey Shanahan, Kendra and Ryan Melesky, and Alexa, Alana and Alysa Shanahan, two nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Atkinson, NH: Kelsey Ashleigh-Gail Richardson, 21, of Atkinson, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, in Haverhill, MA, following a motor vehicle accident.

Born in Melrose, MA, she was the daughter of Donald B. and Donna L. (Wallace) Richardson of Atkinson. A lifelong resident of the town, Kelsey attended Atkinson Academy, Timberlane Regional Middle School and was a member of the Timberlane Regional High School Class of 2007. She recently graduated from Northern Essex Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice and was enrolled in the fall semester at The University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

As a student, Kelsey participated in the Timberlane Regional soccer and softball programs. She enjoyed shopping and was very devoted to her friends and her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She has been employed several summers as a nanny for a family in Windham, NH.

She is survived by her parents, Donald B. and Donna L. (Wallace) Richardson of Atkinson, three brothers, Christopher S. Richardson of Haverhill, MA, Kenneth G. Richardson and his girlfriend Hope of Derry, and Kyle A. Richardson of Atkinson, maternal grandparents, Robert and Julie Wallace of Reading, MA, and paternal grandmother, Marilyn F. Hampstead, NH: Robert F. Ott, Jr., 27, a lifelong resident of Hampstead, died Friday evening, July 16, 2010 in Hampstead.

Born in Winchester, MA, son of Robert F. Ott and the late Anna (Pagliuca) Ott, he attended Hampstead Central and Middle Schools and Pinkerton Academy.

A member of St. Anne’s Parish of Hampstead, he enjoyed fishing, boating, and swimming. He was very devoted to his nieces and nephews and enjoyed the many times that he shared with them.

Survivors include his father Robert F. Ott, of Hampstead, sisters and brother-in-law, Loralie Belanger of Derry, and Jennifer and Peter Reilly of Andover, MA, nephews, Robert Belanger, and John Reilly and nieces, Kaylee David and Olivia Reilly, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Ricky Fermoyle, Jr.

Sandown, NH: Ricky Fermoyle, Jr., 43, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, in Lawrence, MA.

Born in Brighton, MA and raised in Salem N.H., son of Ricky Fermoyle and Joann Maciejewski, he graduated from Salem High School in 1985 and studied acting in New York City.

After working in the insurance industry, he joined the family wholesale bakery business ten years ago and has been the president of Fruit Square People d/b/a L & M Bakery of Ward Hill for the past five years.

An accomplished singer and guitarist in his younger years, Ricky was a member of the band “Marauder”, and also enjoyed playing ice hockey and roller hockey for most of his life. Most recently, his interests centered around his children and enjoying ATV riding with his son.

He is survived by his wife Cindy (Kun) Fermoyle, and children, Brandon C. Fermoyle and Shannon M. Fermoyle, all of Sandown, his father Ricky Fermoyle and his wife Jackie of Londonderry, his mother Joann (Maciejewski) Koehan and her husband Barry of Sandown, his father who raised him, Paul LaPlante and his wife Johanne of Dade City, Florida, a brother Christopher LaPlante of Aptos, CA, a sister Laurie Berk of Mississippi, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

U.S. Flag Atkinson, NH: Henry E. “Hank” Jacques, 72, a resident of Atkinson for the past nine years, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.

Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, Ma, son of the late Henry and Jeanne (Casier) Jacques, he graduated Lawrence High School with the Class of 1955 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1958, stationed aboard the U.S.S. Randolph and U.S.S.Essex in the early years of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Jacques was employed for thirty-five years at Craig Systems Corporation retiring as a supervisor in 1996.

A resident of Andover, MA for thirty-one years, he was a former member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish of Andover and later moved to Haverhill in 1994 before moving to Atkinson in 2001.
He was a member of St. Anne’s Parish of Hampstead and enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Margaret “Midge” (Higgins) Jacques, a daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Yvon LeBlanc of Atkinson, son, Paul “Opie” Jacques and his girlfriend Deborah Martin of Goffstown, son and daughter-in-law, Charles “Chip” and Cathy Jacques of Andover, MA, and son, Matthew Jacques of Haverhill, grandchildren, Christopher Jacques and his girlfriend Danielle Notini, Alexandria LeBlanc, Peter Jacques, Noelle LeBlanc, Logan Jacques, and Nicholas Jacques, and a great-grandson, Daniel Jacques.

Mr. Michael A. Paszko

U.S. Flag Haverhill: Mr. Michael A. Paszko, 83, of Bradford, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his home, following a period of declining health.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, the son of the late John and Frances (Ryczko) Paszko, he graduated from Haverhill Trade School and also attended Fitchburg State College. He served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during W.W.II from 1944 until 1946 and was stationed in the United States, Asia and other overseas countries.

Mr. Paszko was a machine shop instructor at the former Haverhill Trade School from 1955 until 1972 and later at the Whittier Regional Vocational and Technical High School from 1972 until his retirement in 1991.

A member of St. John the Baptist Parish of Haverhill, the former St. Michael’s Parish, and the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association, he enjoyed buying and rehabilitating older Haverhill properties. He also enjoyed baking bread, especially Polish breads and at one time planned to open a bakery.

He was proud of his Polish heritage and enjoyed attending Polka parties with his late wife Cecilia. Well-known in the Haverhill community, he was instrumental in helping to establish the Consentino School on Washington Street in Haverhill.

The husband of the late M. Cecilia (Drelick) Paszko, he is survived by six children, son Peter M. Paszko of Haverhill, daughter and son-in-law, Mary F. Paszko and Adam Michelson of Winchester, son Paul E. Paszko of Haverhill, daughter Teresa Weber of Haverhill, son and daughter-in-law, James P. and Michelle (Siney) Paszko of Haverhill and daughter Cynthia E. Paszko of Haverhill, grandchildren, Timothy Paszko, Sarah Weber, Michael Weber, Tyler Paszko, and Ashley Paszko, great-grandchildren, Skylih Marie Paszko and Timothy Paszko, Jr., brothers, Walter Paszko, Zigmund Paszko, John Paszko, and Stanley Paszko, all of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Joseph Paszko and William Paszko and sisters Veronica Paszko and Doris (Paszko) Clement.

Mrs. Vera K. (McCabe) (Belcher) LaBelle

Atkinson, NH: Vera K. (McCabe (Belcher) LaBelle, 92 of Atkinson, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.

Born in Clinton, MA, daughter of the late Turner and Elizabeth Frances (Clark) MacCabe, she moved briefly to Bolton and later to Windham Hill, Maine. She attended school in Mt. Vernon, ME where she lived for several years and later was a resident of Monmouth, ME for several years.

A longtime resident of Winthrop, MA where she raised her children, Mrs. LaBelle also lived for many years in North Andover and Plum Island with her late husband George LaBelle. She also lived in Plaistow for twenty years before moving to Atkinson in 2006.

An avid reader and accomplished scrabble player, she also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, Frank Sinatra music and collecting blue bird, thimbles and miniature bells. She most enjoyed the time that she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The mother of the late Norman H. Belcher, who died in 1997, she is survived by a daughter Betty Belcastro and her partner Jack Kobelenz of Littleton, MA, a daughter Kathleen Nelson of Manchester, daughter-in-law, Barbara (Belcher) Jordan of Atkinson, three brothers, Milton McCabe of Auburn, ME, Lloyd McCabe of Monmouth, ME and Quentin McCabe of Bangor, ME, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Lillian (McCabe) Frain, and brothers, W. Neil McCabe, John McCabe and Vincent McCabe.

Atkinson: Josephine B. “Josie” (Poull) Dube, 70, of Atkinson, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at The Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Haverhill, MA, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Sakowizk) Poull, she attended local schools and worked in the local shoe industry as a young woman.

Primarily a housewife and homemaker for most of her life, Mrs. Dube was a longtime resident of Haverhill until moving to Atkinson in 2001.

A member of the former St. Rita and St. Joseph Parishes of Haverhill, Mrs. Dube enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, bingo, and trips to Foxwoods but especially cherished the times that she shared with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, George H. Dube, three sons, George R. “Rick” Dube and his wife Joyce of Atkinson, Thomas A. Dube and his friend Sue Hayes of Wakefield, NH, and Brian J. Dube and his wife Kellie of Sandown, three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna M. and David Manning of Sandown, Julie A. and Brian Lockard of Danville, and Laurie A. and Kenneth Huberdeau of Atkinson, thirteen grandchildren, Joshua, Meaghan, Sarah, Ashley, Matthew, Karen, Dustin, Brittany, Shayne, Eric, Dylan, Michael and Brykel, and a great-grand-daughter Samantha, and several nieces and nephews.

Hampstead, NH: Charles A. Alartosky, of Hampstead and former resident of Haverhill, died on Sunday, July 4, 2010.

Born and raised in Haverhill, son of Charles H. and Margaret (Lynn) Alartosky, he attended local schools and was a graduate Summa Cum Laude from Springfield College with a Bachelors degree in Human Services. He went on to work for local leather shops and later worked for Lucent Technologies for 21 years.

A member of St. Anne’s Parish, Charles was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers, CWA Retirees and a Friend of Bill. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, he also enjoyed reading and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Norma (Daly) Alartosky, a son, Mark C. Alartosky and his fiancé Kathy Stanton of Haverhill, three daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne M. and Joseph Fournier of Merrimac, MA, Mary C. and Scott Marcelais of Plaistow and Ann M. Alartosky of Worcester, MA and two grandchildren, David M. and Laura T. Alartosky.

Mrs. Maxine N. (Stevens) Guscora

Plaistow, NH: Mrs. Maxine N. (Stevens) Guscora, 90, formerly of North Avenue, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at The Oxford in Haverhill.

Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Harold and Rubina (Smith) Stevens, she was raised in Plaistow and attended the Pollard School. She graduated from Haverhill High School and MacIntosh Business School.

Mrs. Guscora was employed as the Head Bookkeeper at Circle Machine for most of her working life until her retirement.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plaistow and enjoyed braiding rugs, knitting, tending to her gardens and her cats. Her greatest enjoyment was her role as a housewife and homemaker to her husband and son.

The widow of Anthony J. Guscora, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steven A. and Laurie (Haggett) Guscora of Plaistow, a sister Doris Ray of Plaistow and several nephews and nieces.

U.S. Flag Plaistow, NH: Francis P. “Tootsie” Gigliotti, 86, of Plaistow, died Tuesday evening, June 29, 2010 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.

Born and raised in Haverhill, son of the late Michael and Mary (Laureno) Gigliotti, he attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during W.W.II and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the W.W.II Victory Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.

Employed first in the local shoe industry, he retired from A.T.& T Technologies in North Andover.

Mr. Gigliotti was an active member of Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also active in several church organizations. He was an avid sports enthusiast and also enjoyed walking.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Alberta (MacLean) Gigliotti, a son, Dr. Robert F. Gigliotti O.D. of Cumming, GA, a daughter, Terry A. Gigliotti of Plaistow, a brother Albert M. Gigliotti, of Haverhill, a grand-daughter, Ashley Gigliotti, and several nieces and nephews.

Plaistow, NH:Elizabeth May [Gilman] [Stewart] Thompson, 86, widow of Hector C. Thompson, passed away June 29, 2010 at Penacook Place.

Born in Tamworth NH on June 17, 1924, to the late Clyde L. and Iva A. (Perkins) Gilman Jirele, Betty was educated in Madison NH and Groveland MA, and graduated from Burdett College, Boston MA. She was an office worker for many years at the former Bernie Shoe Company, Westville Homes and Merrimack Industrial Finishes.

She was a lifetime member of Riverside Memorial Church and belonged to the Women’s Guild. She also belonged to the Haverhill City Women’s Club and was treasurer of the East Parish Meeting House Restoration Committee.
Though she loved to travel and explore new places, she was content at home and enjoyed her cats, cooking, gardening and reading.

Betty was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

Pre-deceased by two brothers, David S. and Clyde L. Gilman, and her daughter, Sherrill [Stewart] Della Pietro, she leaves five children and their spouses: daughter Kathleen Keefe and her husband Richard of Plaistow NH, with whom she shared a home; Son, Raymond S. Stewart of Newton NH; daughter, Sally Eberlein of Gainesville FL; daughter, Anne Durst and her husband Henry Jr. of Haverhill; and son, Colin Stewart and his wife Laura of Jacksonville FL; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in -law, Mrs. Lois Gilman; six step-children; nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many dear friends, and her reunion buddies, Tina and Sue.

Danville, NH: Mr. Ronald T. Creighton, age 63, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA.

Born in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Jennie (Casa) (Creighton) Perry and the late Adolph Creighton. Raised in Rye, NH, he attended Portsmouth High School.

Mr. Creighton was a licensed plumber and worked as a Nuclear Pipefitter for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and more recently for the past eighteen years as a Purchasing Agent for Wheelabrator in North Andover, MA. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Seabrook Bowling League, Exeter, NH.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Doldt) Creighton; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph D. & Deborah Mitchell of Danville, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen A. & Clay Driscoll of Raymond, NH; his mother, Jennie (Casa) (Creighton) Perry of Hampton, NH; a brother, Robert Creighton of Canton, GA; three grandchildren, Christopher Shay, Jillian Shay and Joseph R. Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Jameson & Jayna; a nephew, a niece, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Plaistow, NH: Mrs. Frances R. (Henderson) Pelletier, 84, of Plaistow, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Exeter Hospital.

Born in Manchester, NH, daughter of the late Raymond and Blanche (Blouin) Henderson, she attended schools in Manchester and later moved to Danvers, MA, where she completed her education.

A resident of Plaistow for forty-one years, she was primarily a housewife and homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing.

The wife of the late Gordon Pelletier, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon E. “Mike” and Merriellen Pelletier, of Hampstead, Alan R. “Rick” and Maryellen Pelletier of Plaistow, and Kevin P. and Jeanne Pelletier of Hudson, two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna M. Willerson of Wells, Maine, and Karen M. and Paul Belfiore of Bradford, MA, three sisters, Dorothy DesFosses of Manchester, Margaret Dempsey of Danvers, MA, and Joan Turcotte of Danvers, also twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow with a graveside service at 12 p.m. in Plaistow Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Vic Geary Senior Center, 18 Greenough Road, Plaistow, NH 03865.


Mr. Norman E. "Skip" Ray, Jr.

U.S. Flag Plaistow, NH: Norman E. “Skip” Ray, Jr. 84, a native and lifelong resident of the Town of Plaistow, died Monday evening, June 21, 2010, at Baker –Katz Nursing Home in Haverhill.

Born in Plaistow on March 12, 1926, son of the late Norman E. and Mildred (Warner) Ray, he attended the Pollard School and Haverhill High School.

Mr. Ray served in the U.S.Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during W.W.II and was a recipient of the W.W.II Victory Medal, The American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal.

Employed as a young man by the Appleyard Oil Co. Mr. Ray established Skip’s Garage on Route 125 in Plaistow in 1967 and operated the company until his retirement.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plaistow, the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion, The Lorraine Post of the VFW and AmVets Post 147.

A licensed pilot, who enjoyed flying his own plane, Mr. Ray also enjoyed clamming and oystering.

Survivors include his wife Doris F. (Stevens) Ray, a son and daughter-in-law, David H. and Irene Ray, a son Peter N. Ray and a grand-daughter Angela Ray, all of Plaistow.

Mr. Robert K. Lightizer

Newton, NH: Mr. Robert K. Lightizer, 81, of Newton, died Friday, June 18, 2010 at Exeter Hospital, after being stricken at home.

Born in Brockton, MA and raised in Peabody and Saugus, he was the son of the late Everett E and Sarah (Clarke) Lightizer, and was educated in Saugus schools.

Mr. Lightizer retired in 1991 as the manager of the body shop at MacGregor-Smith Chrysler Plymouth of Haverhill and was previously employed in the same capacity at Ryan Motors.

A resident of Newton for the past fifty-eight years, and an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a founding and life member of the Country Pond Fish and Game Club. He was also a former longtime member of the Newton Volunteer Fire Department and Newton Police Department.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Joan J. (Eckhardt) Lightizer, three sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Kelly Lightizer of Newton, Mark D. and Marie Lightizer of Newton, and Jeffrey S. and Rebecca Lightizer of Plaistow, eight grandchildren, William R. Lightizer, Nicole J. (Lightizer) Morton, Robert J. Lightizer, Amy C. Lightizer, Elizabeth A. Lightizer, Scot A. Lightizer, Jacob T. Lightizer, and Matthew P. Lightizer, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael S. Lightizer in 2001.
